Is anyone aware of the procedure for students to cheat on the program. I seem to have a lot of students who suddenly got very smart in math

We are not aware of any "cheating schemes". Can you be more specific about which games your students are currently using? Have you noticed their scores increasing by unusual sticker amounts?

If you want to talk in specifics about your school or team's scores, please write to help@firstinmath.com

I've had kids tell me that other kid's parents are working on the problems at home.

If parents are helping their children on the FIM site, that is probably a good thing, as it is so important to involve parents in the education process. As long as the child is learning

But, if I read between the lines of your post, what the kids are saying is that parents are doing the work FOR their children? Obviously that is not good, and we certainly discourage it, but it will come to light soon enough in class when the student does not display the skills he or she supposedly mastered.

There is no way to police this, any more than you could stop a parent from writing their kid's book report, or finishing their art project.

This one of the reasons we prefer that teachers NOT assign FIM as "homework".

I agree with parent participation.  It is key to student success.  However, when a parent does the work for the child, the child isn't learning and that DOES reflect in their daily work.  Thanks for your response.
