I have a student who scored 100% on 3 of the pre-tests and 96% on the 4th. If I understand the scoring correctly, that would earn 300 stickers, 90 for each 100% and 30 for the 96%. His total sticker count is 284. How is this possible?

You are probably looking at the sticker amounts awarded for SUBSEQUENT TRIES (post-tests) instead of the FIRST TRY (pre-tests).
Each player is only awarded 30 stickers for a FIRST TRY (pre-test) as long as they achieve 50%+. (so he should have earned 120 stickers from those four attempts) Players can earn up to 90 additional stickers for SUBSEQUENT TRIES (post-test). More weight is given to the subsequent tries, so that lower-performing students will try to improve their percentage of correct answers. Obviously, students who have mastered these skills will earn some easy, quick stickers and move on. If, in the future you feel there is an error in sticker counts, fill out the Request Tech Assistance form (link on TL Home page) so we'll have all of your info and can look things up in the database. You can also use help@firstinmath.com Hope this helps! |
